The act of resistance is located in the act of creation, in a decision that the subject takes, most often under the impulse of a compelling and unconscious need, then in the action that he undertakes and which leads one to express one's own individual being through an original creation. The real referent of his completed work does not matter. Whether this work openly addresses a political subject, whether it is figurative or not, it is the act of creation which expresses by itself the resistance of the subject, above all its resistance to being confused and disappearing into an indistinct mass defying death, then asserting his own personal vision. The creator, as Gilles Deleuze explains, “can only express himself, or even think, through the means of his art. Creation is always a form of resistance, an act of resistance to death.” In my works, the act of painting also involves a personal catastrophe. In the chaos lies the painter's style, his signature. The painted work arises between the visible and the invisible. Taking the act of creation is always a challenge. The confrontation with the raw canvas is done through the need to purify, the need to eliminate ready-made ideas and everything that is made easy. Before even starting, the canvas is already filled, because the painter can only think of his work using the technical means of his art. Thus, I confront reality, but I do not represent reality, I want to assert precisely my fight against the ugliness of the world in order to resist/exist Alain CABOT AAB Gallery. 1, rue Francis Picabia – 75020 Paris (Mr. Couronnes)
