Alain Cabot, “painter and visual artist 2.0” within the Artists à la Bastille collective. explores mixed media on various media. In his Gang series, the subject is treated using a process that ranges from figurative to narrative documentary, like medieval and Renaissance polyptychs or comic strips. He represents, without moralizing reading, the misery of South American favelas in the details of an aging urban civilization (advertising posters, graffiti, street art).
The use of quotation and recycling of materials (pasted papers) and details taken from comics, films and documentaries on gangs is omnipresent.
