Hybrids
In my work as an artist I have approached the concept of hybridization both in terms of techniques and in terms of subjects. Thus, in my paintings, and in particular in the “Gang” series that I am offering for this exhibition, I wanted to combine the imaginary world, creative fantasy and children's dreams, with the violent world of a degraded reality and in margin like that of Latin American gangs. To this main opposition are added images of a Western society, of dying capitalism. Hybridization is also about the dreams, hopes, and life possibilities of these depicted children, children born on opposite sides of our global village.
But above all, for years, my work has been carried out in a hybrid technique: if the canvas remains the support used, oil paint rubs shoulders on the space of the canvas with collages and small objects used as raw material , decontextualized and reworked to become something else. These different materials nevertheless remain visible on the canvas.
In this series, hybridization is not synonymous with greater beauty, but it refers to the contradictions that undermine our world and our daily lives. She wants to have political meaning.
